Kevin O’Buckley has been appointed to the position of senior vice president and general manager of Intel Foundry Services. Foundry Services is the division of Intel Foundry that is responsible for customer support and ecosystem operations. This marks the beginning of O’Buckley’s tenure at Intel, where he will join the senior leadership team and report to Pat Gelsinger, the company’s CEO. He follows Stuart Pann, who will retire from Intel at the end of May after 35 years of service and will continue to serve as an advisor to promote a transition that is as smooth as possible.

Through his leadership, O’Buckley will be responsible for driving the expansion of Intel’s foundry business and continuing to expand the company’s ecosystem of partners in the areas of intellectual property and electrical design automation. In this position, O’Buckley will collaborate closely with the other senior executives at Intel Foundry in order to realize the company’s goal of developing the first system foundry that is suitable for the age of artificial intelligence.

Intel’s capabilities in the areas of technological development, worldwide production, foundry customer support, and ecosystem operations are all included in the Intel Foundry business. It allows fabless clients to develop and produce chips for a new age of artificial intelligence-driven computing by bringing together all of the essential components that they need.

Over the course of his more than 25 years of expertise in the semiconductor sector, O’Buckley has joined Intel. He most recently held the position of senior vice president of hardware engineering at Marvell Technologies, where he was responsible for the Custom, Compute, and Storage Group. Under the terms of Marvell’s 2019 purchase of Avera Semiconductor, where he had previously held the position of chief executive officer, he joined Marvell. Additionally, he held the position of vice president of Product Development at Global Foundries. Prior to that, he had spent over seventeen years at IBM, where he was responsible for overseeing manufacturing and technology development divisions. O’Buckley has a Master of Science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Vermont in addition to a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from Alfred University.

After 35 years of remarkable work at Intel, Pann has decided to retire. He leaves behind a notable legacy of accomplishments, one of which is the successful establishment of Intel Foundry in accordance with Intel’s new operating model. Prior to his current position, Pann held the positions of senior vice president, chief business transformation officer, and general manager of Intel’s Corporate Planning Group.
