Connectria Now Accepting Clients at New Singapore Data Centers

DateJul 10, 2024

Connectria, a global provider of IBM Power Systems cloud services and an AWS Premier Tier Services Partner, now a part of LightEdge, is now accepting clients at its two new data centers in Singapore. These facilities are designed to support the growing demand for IBM infrastructure modernization and hybrid cloud adoption in the Asia-Pacific region.

The new data centers aim to facilitate cloud adoption and modernization for IBM i and AIX systems, ensuring seamless integration between public cloud and traditional IT environments. Leveraging AWS hybrid connectivity solutions, businesses can securely and efficiently transition workloads from on-premises systems to the cloud while managing data across multiple environments and maintaining business continuity.

Singapore is aiming at becoming an even bigger data center hub in the Asia-Pacific region. The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) of Singapore announced plans in May to unlock 300MW of additional data center capacity in the near term, further cementing the city’s status as a critical infrastructure location.

Our expansion into the Asia-Pacific market, in partnership with AWS, will significantly enhance cloud adoption and modernization for IBM i and AIX systems customers in the region, said Troy Mitchell, VP of Channel & Alliances at Connectria. We are excited to provide these essential IBM services, including low-latency connectivity of under 2ms to all three AWS Availability Zones in the Singapore region.

Chris Casey, Director of Partner Management for Asia Pacific & Japan at AWS, emphasized the benefits of building in the cloud. By utilizing the cloud, customers inherit resilient, secure, and highly available infrastructure that maximizes uptime for their essential applications and data. AWS and Connectria are facilitating the seamless integration of AWS cloud-native services with business-critical applications running on IBM Power to improve availability and resilience while accelerating innovation.

IBM Power Hybrid Cloud Resources

Connectrias deployment of IBM Power10 P10 and higher systems ensures the scale, availability, and resiliency required by large enterprises, including those in banking, insurance, and manufacturing sectors. Ryan Pelerin, Chief Commercial Officer at LightEdge, highlighted the advantages of combining IBM Power with AWS. By offering direct AWS hybrid connectivity for IBM i and AIX systems, customers can leverage the reliability of IBM Power with the agility of AWS. This integration enables the enhancement of critical applications with native AWS services like advanced data analytics, AI/ML, and IoT, driving significant cloud innovation and business outcomes.

The two new data centers in Singapore (ap-southeast-1) are equipped with the latest IBM Power10 hardware, strategically positioned to provide businesses with comprehensive benefits from both AWS and IBM Power. These facilities will also offer inner-region Disaster Recovery-as-a-Service (DRaaS) with low latency connectivity to the AWS Asia Pacific (Singapore) Region. By connecting IBM Power workloads to AWS, businesses can more effectively manage and augment mission-critical applications with AWS native services, enhancing capabilities, improving resiliency, and accelerating cloud innovation.

Connectria also offers migration services and IBM Power hybrid cloud resources in an infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) model or as a fully managed service, supporting both IBM Power and AWS environments. For customers in highly regulated industries like financial services, Connectria ensures compliance with critical frameworks such as PCI DSS; SOC 1, 2, and 3; and HIPAA/HITRUST.

As one of the worlds largest cloud hosting and managed services providers for IBM Power Systems, Connectria brings over 25 years of experience in supporting mission-critical IT infrastructure. The recent acquisition by LightEdge in April 2024 would further strengthen its position with regard to hybrid colocation and tailored multi-cloud solutions.
